Wildcat Hollow Primitive Weapons Hunting Area

LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION
This primitive weapons deer hunting area is northeast of Burr Oak State Park, near Glouster, Ohio.  Other nearby towns include Corning on the west edge of the area and McConnelsville, five miles to the northeast.  State Routes 78 and 555 provide access to the interior of the area.  State Route 37 forms a portion of the northern boundary and State Route 13 forms part of the western boundary.
Wildcat Hollow is the name given this rugged, scenic area that includes approximately 49,000 acres of public and private land.  Users of private land must first obtain the written permission of the landowner before hunting. Available public lands include about 7,632 acres of Wayne National Forest and almost all of the 3,800-acre Wolf Creek Wildlife Area.  Approximately 40 percent of the area is wooded and intermixed with crop fields, permanent pasture, brushy stream borders, and former crop fields returning to forest conditions.

CHECK STATION
All deer harvested within the Wildcat Hollow area must be checked at the Wolf Creek Wildlife Area Headquarters on State Route 78 or by a wildlife officer within the primitive weapons area.

CAMPING
Camping facilities are available at the public land units in the area.  There are primitive campgrounds at the Wolf Creek Wildlife Area and the Wayne National Forest.  Nonelectric sites with showers and flush toilets are available at the nearby Burr Oak State Park.
