LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION
This 153-acre wildlife area lies on both sides of the Beaver Creek, five miles northeast of Bryan.  It is easily reached from State Route 15, four miles north of Bryan, by traveling 1.5 miles east on Jefferson Township Road H and one-half mile north on Township Road 1550.  Openland is intermixed with brushy fencerows and extensive brushy thickets covering two-thirds of the area.  Two woodlots totaling 34 acres lie adjacent to the Beaver Creek.

HISTORY AND PURPOSE
The area was purchased in 1941, primarily for use as a wildlife management demonstration area.  Wildlife management activities include controlled burning, mowing and grassland development.

WATCHABLE WILDLIFE
This small wildlife area can be good for observing migrating warblers in the fall and spring.  Woodcock may also be observed performing courtship displays in the open meadows.

FISH AND WILDLIFE
Two small ponds provide fishing for largemouth bass, bluegills, and bullheads.  The portion of the Beaver Creek which flows through the area supports a fair stream fishing opportunity.

The principal wildlife species are cottontail rabbits, ring-necked pheasants and fox squirrels.  White-tailed deer, raccoon and other furbearers are also found on the area as well as wild turkey.

PUBLIC USE FACILITIES
One parking lot is located on the west side of the area.  No other facilities are present.
