  LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION
Fallsville South Wildlife Area - South Unit is in southwest Ohio, 4 miles north of Hillsboro. Located between West Lane and Careytown Road and approximately 1.5 miles south of the Fallsville Wildlife Area Headquarters, the 379-acre Wildlife Area is a combination of fields, rolling hills, pine stands, and hardwoods. A beautiful eight-acre lake is located in the center of the area. The lake is 29 feet at its deepest point with an average depth of 13 to 14 feet.

HISTORY AND PURPOSE
The Division of Wildlife purchased and began management of this property in 2003. The primary purpose of the area is public hunting and fishing, wildlife viewing, and hiking as well as habitat management and wildlife research. Habitat management will focus on establishing native prairie plantings, improving timber stands, and providing wildlife food plots.

HUNTING, TRAPPING, AND FISHING
Hunters will find good opportunities for deer, turkey, quail, rabbit, squirrel, dove, and waterfowl. Deer and squirrel can be found in the woodlots. Turkeys often use the stand of pines to roost. Quail and rabbits are common in the native prairie plantings and field edges.

Designated dove hunting fields are established on an annual basis. Ducks and geese can often be found using the eight-acre lake. Pheasants will NOT be released on this area.

Bluegill and largemouth bass fishing is excellent in the eight-acre lake. The fishing is catch and release only, which will insure a quality fishing opportunity. The use of barbless hooks is encouraged to insure the survival of released fish.

Trapping opportunities exist for muskrat, mink, raccoon, and coyote.

PUBLIC USE FACILITIES
Parking lots are situated on West Lane and Careytown Road. Walking trails are maintained to provide easier access to the pond.
