Shale Oil
Shale Oil, also called Kerogen Oil is an unconventional oil that is produced from Oil Shale. Shale Oil is produced through many different methods including Pyrolysis, Hydrogenation and Thermal Dissolution. These processes change the organic matter in Oil Shale into a form of synthetic oil and gas, thus Shale Oil.

Shale Oil is actually one of the first sources of Mineral Oil used by humans. Shale Oil use was first recorded in Switzerland in the 14th century. Shale Oil was long thought to have almost mystical healing powers. Shale Oil was also used to light the street lamps of Modena Italy in the early 17th century.
