Ohio boasts a large population of whitetail deer which makes Ohio a very popular destination for hunters throughout the region. Although the Whitetail deer is the most common to be found in Ohio, there are also small poulations in Ohio of Black deer which is more commonly found west of the Rockies as opposed to Ohio. The whitetail deer gets it's name from the obvious source of it's white tail. The whitetail deer is prized for it's large size provideing a large amount of usable meat compared to other species as well as having one of the larger sets of antlers giving the rack of the whitetail deer a spot amongst the most popular of north American, and especially Ohio, hunting trophies. |
